Pola Negri was the star of German and Hollywood cinema in the silent era – she was the symbol of sex of the 1920s. The Film Museum in Lodz holds a rich collection of souvenirs of this famous actress.

The domination of the Polish Film School lasted no longer than four and a half years – from the Cannes Festival triumph of Andrzej Wajda’s Kanał in May, 1957 to the conference in Spała, Poland in October, 1960, at which Polish filmmakers were informed about the theses comprised in the
