EWA BRAUN: RECONSTRUCTION OF THE WORLDS LONG GONE…

On January 16, at 5 PM, we would like to invite you to a vernissage of the exhibition titled “Reconstruction of the worlds long gone by Ewa Braun – a set decorator, costume designer and the Academy Award winner for interior design for Schindler’s List.

Ewa Braun is a costume and interior designer and set decorator. In 1994, she won the Oscar for set design for Schindler’s List by Steven Spielberg. She is a member of the Los Angeles Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences which awards Oscars. She worked with excellent Polish and foreign directors, among others Andrzej Wajda (Holy Week, 1995), Agnieszka Holland (Europa Europa, 1990), Krzysztof Zanussi (Our God’s Brother, 1997; The Silent Touch, 1992; Life for a Life. Maksymilian Kolbe, 1991; Wherever you are…, 1988; Spirala, 1978), Peter Kassovitz (Jakob the Liar, 1999), Janusz Majewski (C.K. Dezerterzy, 1985, Zaklęte rewiry 1975, Epitafium dla Barbary Radziwiłłówny, 1982, Sprawa Gorgonowej, 1977), Wojciech Jerzy Has (An Uneventful Story, 1982, Write and Fight, 1985), Volker Schlöndorff (The Ogre, 1996) or Steven Spielberg (Schindler’s List, 1993). She also worked for numerous TV series and productions, such as Kariera Nikodema DyzmyKrólowa Bona and Zaklęty Dwór.

Ewa Braun is also a lecturer of the Łódź Film School, where since 2003 she has been managing her author’s own Studio on set decoration, costume design and make-up for students of the Direction, Cinematography and Acting Departments. More than 100 student films were developed under her supervision, with the focus on practical study of the issue of set space creation and character’s image.

Ewa Braun was a member of jury of important film and fashion festivals and events, among others the Gdynia Polish Film Festival, “Dwa Teatry” Festival in Sopot, Tarnowska Nagroda Filmowa, Festiwal Scenografów i Kostiumografów VizuArt Rzeszów, as well as Oskary Mody and Doskonałości Mody “Twojego Stylu”. She is a member of the Art Historians Association, Polish Filmmakers Association and Polish Film Academy.

After the vernissage, we would like to invite you to the screening of the film Epitafium dla Barbary Radziwiłłówny directed by Janusz Majewski, for which Ewa Braun prepared the set design. The film will be screened using 35 mm film.
