Review of films – Eagle Awards 2017
From the 3rd to the 31st of January the Kinematograf cinema will show you Polish films whose authors will compete for the Polish Film Awards “Eagles 2017”.
The viewers will get a chance to see all of more than 50 Polish productions meeting the preconditions set for candidates for the Polish Film Awards “Eagles”. The list of films covers among others: United States of Love directed by Tomasz Wasilewski, who won the Silver Bear Award for the film script at the last Berlinale; Jan P. Matuszewski’s award-winning debut, The Last Family. Andrzej Seweryn received the Best Actor Award at the Locarno Film Festival for his role in this film; Baby Bump directed by Kuba Czekaj, which was given a Special Mention at the Venice Film Festival as well as The Innocents by Anne Fontaine, a film featuring excellent Polish actresses, which was included in the main competition at the Valladolid Film Festival, and the latest, emotional film by Wojciech Smarzowski – Wołyń.
During the Łódź review of films competing for the Eagles we will invite you to meeting with film artists. It is planned that the discussions with viewers after the screenings will be attended by: a documentary film author, Paweł Łoziński, a director of You Don’t Even Know How Much I love You and Piotr Dumała, a director of Ederly.
The review of all films competing for the Polish Film Awards “Eagles 2017” will be held in two cinemas: Warsaw Iluzjon cinema and our Kinematograf cinema.
A ticket costs 13/15 PLN, a ticket booklet for any 10 films costs 100 PLN.
Polish Film Awards “Eagles” referred to as “Polish Oscars”, have been awarded for the past 18 years. All Nominees and Winners are chosen with the votes of the Polish Film Academy members including the most excellent Polish filmmakers. The Polish Film Academy is an equivalent of national film academies awarding such awards as the French Cesar Awards, American Oscars, Czech Lion Awards, English Bafta or Spanish Goya Awards as well as European Film Awards.
Nominations for Eagles 2017 will be announced on the 7th of February, the meeting with Nominees and the announcement of the Life Achievement Award Winner will take place on March 2. The Eagle Ceremony is scheduled for the 6th of March.
