"Man in Danger" Festival

26th Media Festival Man in Danger

We would like to invite you to the 26th Media Festival “Man in Danger” which will be held on 22 – 26 November in the Film Museum.

The Festival focuses on the most interesting documentaries concerning threats facing modern man. During the competition and special screenings we will show you films awarded at Polish and international film festivals. Films that tell incredible stories, films based on interesting formal solutions, films providing answer to the question “What are you afraid of?”, films analysing modern world. Most authors of presented documentaries will come to the Festival to meet the audience.
We warmly encourage you to see films outside the competition. We will show you films distinguished by the European Film Academy as well as some less known, but still very interesting titles. We offer you a glance at the Near East through films from Israel and Palestine. You can see the outcomes of the crisis in Greece or complicated human fate juxtaposed against historical events.
The jury of the Festival competition shall include: Marek Piwowski – a director of features, most notably of The Cruise, and documentary films; Andrzej Sapija – a director of documentary films whose film Intensity of Watching about Kazimierz Karabasz will premiere at the Festival; Professor Tadeusz Szczepański – a film historian and critic; Vita Drygas – whose film titled Piano won Grand Prix of the 25th Festival and Monika Pawluczuk – her film End of the World won the Polish Filmmakers Association Award last year.
A special event of the 26th Festival will be an exhibition of photographs by Zuza Kolska titled reKONSTRUKCJA. Post mortem.
reKONSTRUKCJA is a project that is always in creative process of construing new interpretative contexts
and joining in the dialogue with the time and the place. “You’ve got no photo, so there is no story and there is no you”. This sentence from Zuza’s notes reflects the artist’s critical interest in developing the link between the image and the viewer. This is a reflection on the power of visibility. On the severity of emptiness.
The works of tragically deceased daughter of Grażyna Błęcka-Kolska and Jan Jakub Kolski will be presented in the Galley above the Cinema.

Admission to all screenings and other Festival events is free of charge. Screenings will be held in the Kinematograf Cinema and Kino Cafe – the museum cafeteria.
